Her or Hisstory of Gender Inequality

Her or Hisstory of Gender Inequality

This book explores the subtle yet impactful ways gender inequality manifests in daily conversations. By examining these interactions through carefully designed dialogues, the project aims to shed light on language-based discrimination and foster greater awareness of its effects.

Project Introduction

Gender discrimination refers to treating individuals unfairly based on their gender. This project highlights how such biases often appear in everyday conversations. By recording and designing these dialogues, the book aims to make readers aware of the impact of language violence and encourage reflection on mutual respect and equality.

Through a minimalist design approach, the book transforms these conversations into thought-provoking visual narratives.

Research and Inspiration

The content is inspired by real-life observations of subtle and overt gender-based biases in daily interactions. These conversations were analyzed and translated into the book's design to emphasize the hidden power of language.

"Some people think ..."

Man can't wear skirt.

War is for boys; girls shouldn’t join the army.

"For a long time, it was thought that
sex discrimination was a girl's thing."

Concept Development

The concept was to visualize how gender inequality is embedded in language, making these invisible biases visible through design. Each dialogue is carefully crafted to represent a range of real-life situations where language reflects inequality—be it in the workplace, relationships, or daily interactions.

The minimalist layout allows the conversations to take center stage, with typography and spacing emphasizing the tone and power dynamics of each interaction.
